Bright hues and glasses

Well, summer has arrived in full force. The sun is hot, but it makes me happy. So, I dipped my brushes in sunshine and started some new illustrations.

I tried a little collage here. I really like how it turned out; vibrant colors, organic lines and shapes. Although I'm not sure if illustrating over collage is the way to go, I see it everywhere nowadays...aw I still like it.

These next few months are going to be nerve wracking. My employer is making some changes and it is possible that I will lose my job. So, I guess it's time to mark a new path. Maybe it's time to illustrate for real? As a semi-self-taught artist I'm having trouble figuring out how to make a business out of art. So, I guess you can follow me as I try to make it on my own.

Home not so sweet home

I feel like I have neglected my dear Artemis Wilde and I wanted to share the reason. I wish I had some lovely painting to post for all to see. However...
As mentioned before, I recently bought a house and as it turns out there is a lengthy list of repairs to be made. Sigh... My things are still stored away in boxes and the only creature comforts we have are a bed and a sofa. I can't wait we are done with repairs and I can begin creating things again.
Until then, here is a photo of what will eventually be my studio, that is, when all other things are put in order. This was taken before we moved in. Right now this room is full of our worldly possessions and there is no creativity happening in there.

This little birdie has found a place to nest for the winter.

All of my paper, pens and paint are stuffed away in little brown boxes for safe travel. I'm taking a little break to set up my new house. It has space for a studio, yippee! Hopefully it will help me to make lots of lovely artwork for your viewing pleasure.

Ok, maybe I've gotten carried away with this style. However, it seems there are infinite objects that lend themselves to it. Don't worry, there are more where this came from. I'm obsessed with this color combination. I keep trying to think of an alternate that would please me just as much, but I haven't come up with anything. Hope you are liking it too.

Oh, my. I wanted to post something before the weekend. I simply haven't had time to do a full color illustration (working full-time kind of impedes on my time to work on art, he he). So, I am starting something new, posting items "in the works."

This piece comes from my "Forrest Critters" list, but I decided to take the series to fantasy land. It was about an ermine, but somehow a pair of fish sneaked into the scene, in some odd way I like it. Narrative still in the works. I'm open to ideas.
